With support from the Gavi Alliance, Zenysis will work with the government of Mozambique to enhance the use of data for decision making.

San Francisco, CA, August 12, 2021 — Zenysis Technologies, Inc. (Zenysis) has been selected by the government of Mozambique to expand its National Health System Analytics Platform (NHS Platform). With support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi), the initiative aims to strengthen national childhood vaccination programs and outbreak response capabilities.

“We are excited to deepen our partnership with the government of Mozambique, which is pioneering the use of big data to improve health outcomes on a national scale,” said Jonathan Stambolis, CEO, Zenysis.

“Access to accurate and reliable data will help support the Government of Mozambique’s planning and implementation of immunization programs, to ensure no child is left behind” said Cyril Nogier, Senior Country Manager for Anglophone Africa, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. “Zenysis’ partnership with Gavi and the government of Mozambique is an example of how private sector innovation and technology can be catalytic to furthering global health outcomes.”

Zenysis commenced work on the NHS Platform in 2020, with support from Gavi. Initially funded to enhance routine vaccination, the platform was quickly repurposed to support the COVID-19 response.

Zenysis will now work with the government of Mozambique to integrate census data, surveillance data, as well as data on health infrastructure and vaccine supplies into the NHS Platform. Crucially, Zenysis will also work with the government to build the capacity of health professionals to analyze and utilize these data to strengthen routine vaccination and emergency response programs, including the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

The expansion of the NHS Platform will be overseen by the Ministry of Health’s Expanded Programme on Immunization. Zenysis will also work with the government to build IT capacity at the Ministry of Health. These investments will help maximize the impact and the sustainability of the platform in Mozambique over the long term.

Zenysis is co-investing its own private sector resources in the project, which will be implemented over a three-year period. Upon completion, the NHS Platform will be one of the most advanced of its kind in Africa.

About Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance: Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is a public-private partnership that helps vaccinate half the world’s children against some of the world’s deadliest diseases. Since its inception in 2000, Gavi has helped to immunise a whole generation – over 822 million children – and prevented more than 14 million deaths, helping to halve child mortality in 73 lower-income countries. Gavi also plays a key role in improving global health security by supporting health systems as well as funding global stockpiles for Ebola, cholera, meningitis and yellow fever vaccines. After two decades of progress, Gavi is now focused on protecting the next generation and reaching the unvaccinated children still being left behind, employing innovative finance and the latest technology – from drones to biometrics – to save millions more lives, prevent outbreaks before they can spread and help countries on the road to self-sufficiency.

The Vaccine Alliance brings together developing country and donor governments, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, the vaccine industry, technical agencies, civil society, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other private sector partners.
